About me

I've been a tech enthusiast all of my life.
From building my first computers with my Dad as a kid, to hosting game servers for my friends as a teenager, and in recent times where I've deployed personal projects in containers in the cloud.

In my spare time I enjoy programming, playing guitar, and spending time in nature .

I also enjoy traveling with my partner, and learning about other cultures. I'm currently learning Polish as a second language. It's difficult, but I enjoy a challenge!

Current Role

I'm an IT Business Analyst for a major Polish IT consultancy firm.
As a Scrum Master and BA, I help to bridge the gap between clients and all members of the scrum team by understanding the languages of both business and tech.

This enables me to ensure that my clients receive the functionality that they actually need.

I work tirelessly to promote a positive culture within the team, and provide support using the SLII management framework.

BA Skills and Frameworks

Having worked in IT projects for over seven years, along with my Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis from the BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT, I have developed and applied a wide range of BA skills in my goal of becoming a T-Shaped Professional. Click below to learn more about my BA Skills.

  • Experienced scrum master, facilitating fast and efficient ceremonies that stay on topic. I support my team using the SLII management framework, to make sure everyone has precisely the level of support they need to grow.
  • Proficient with industry standard tools, including Jira (inc. JQL), Confluence, Sharepoint, Slack, etc.
  • Using the Requirements Engineering Framework to gather, analyze, verify, and document requirements
  • Performing MoSCoW analysis to prioritize requirements and to ensure they are aligned with the business strategy and tactics
  • Gathering User Stories and enhancing them to provide sufficient detail for development teams
  • Modeling the enterprise using VMOST, SIPOC, and Value Chain Analysis
  • Modeling the event-response level using BPMN and UML process mapping techniques
  • Utilizing Convergent and Divergent thinking to generate creative and feasible solutions to business problems
Selected Projects

This is a small selection of the projects I have delivered. I have been involved with projects across both London Market insurance and heavy industrial sectors.

  • Major Lloyd's Syndicate Client (Ongoing): Guidewire Cloud Platform upgrade, "lift-and-shift" of existing ClaimCenter 9 implementation to the cloud.
  • Major Lloyd's Syndicate Client: Maintenance and BAU changes to Guidewire ClaimCenter 9, working on both the London Market ECF writeback integration as well as integrations with a legal vendor management platform and internal FTS system.
  • Extraction of live sensor and production "big data" from two major recycling plants using protocols such as MODBUS RTU/TCP, RS485, MQTT, and Profinet for the purposes of operational monitoring, preventative maintenance, and fault-finding. This continually saves the business 1000's of engineering hours and countless production stoppages per year across all sites. Additional benefits such as prolonging equipment lifespans and employee morale are intangible.
  • Several bespoke android applications in conjunction with 3rd party development resource. These have replaced the usage of paper documents throughout every department, saving multiple £100k's per year with the added benefit of making previously silo'd data trivial to surface via tabulated reports and dashboards.
  • Designing and deploying an integrated CCTV system across multiple disparate industrial sites in accordance with GDPR and other relevant laws. This has prevented a number of legal challenges to the business , as well as enhancing loss prevention around valuable products.
  • IT infrastructure installation for a new site. Having gathered the network and platform requirements from stakeholders, I worked hand-in-glove with the IT infrastructure team to design and personally implement the required LAN, WLAN, and fibre WAN solutions. This required careful coordination with several 3rd party suppliers to perform civil works and install a FTTP link.
Technologies

These are a small selection of the technologies that I'm familiar with, along with how I'd rate my ability in them. Included are applications and programming/scripting languages I believe that a business analyst should have a wide breadth of knowledge.
